What Is Gluing Paper Texture? Gluing paper texture is a technique used to create interesting and unique surfaces for your artwork. It’s a great way to add depth, dimension, and interest to your work. You can use it on any type of surface including canvas, wood panels, metal, plastic, glass, fabric, or even paper!
You can also glue paper textures onto other types of paper such as watercolor paper, vellum, and more. Use these textures for designing urban poster mockups and glued poster mockups.

How To Use Gluing Paper Texture:

To start gluing paper textures you will need some thin strips of paper that are about 1/8 inch wide by 2 inches long. These should be cut from the same piece of paper so they all have the same size and shape.
Next, you will want to prepare your surface. This could be anything from canvas to wood panels to metal to plastic. The key here is to make sure that the surface is clean and free of dust. If there is too much dirt or oil on the surface then it will not accept the adhesive well.

Once the surface is prepared, you will want to apply a layer of acrylic paint to it. Acrylic paints are ideal for this because they dry quickly and won’t leave behind any sticky residue.

Once the paint has dried, you will want to place the paper strip over the top of the painted area. Make sure that the edges of the paper are aligned with the edge of the painting.

Now comes the fun part – using an X-ACTO knife or utility blade, carefully score along the edges of the paper. Be careful not to go through the entire thickness of the paper. Now that you have scored the paper, you can remove the excess paper from around the edges.

If you are working with a canvas, you may want to use a brush to spread out the glue in order to get a nice smooth finish. Once the glue has been applied, let the paper sit overnight before proceeding. If you are working with a wood panel, you may want to wait 24 hours before applying the glue.

When it comes time to apply the glue, you will want to hold the paper up against the surface and press down firmly. Make sure that you do not move the paper until the glue dries completely. After the glue has dried, you can easily peel off the paper and reveal your beautiful new surface.

This method works best when you are creating something that requires a lot of detail. For example, if you were making a portrait, you would want to use a very fine tip pen to draw details like eyelashes and eyebrows.

Another good application for this technique is when you are trying to achieve a certain look. For example, if your goal was to create a metallic effect, you could try using a metallic gel medium instead of acrylic paint. The possibilities are endless when it comes to gluing paper textures. There really isn’t a limit to what you can do with them.
