Newspapers are a great way to get inspiration from other designers’ work. They also provide a wealth of information on typography, layout, and color theory. The newspaper has always played a vital role in society. From the time they first appeared, newspapers have provided readers with important information and entertainment. Today, newspapers continue to play a major role in our lives.
You don’t have to be a professional designer to create beautiful newspaper textures. All you need is some free software and a little patience. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to create stunning paper textures using Photoshop.
Step 1: Create Your Background Image
Open up Photoshop and create a new document. For this tutorial, I’m going to use a size of 8 inches by 10 inches (20cm x 25cm).

Step 2: Select an Inkjet Paper Texture
In order to create a newspaper texture, you need to start with a background image. To do this, select one of the available paper textures. You can find them under “Paper” in the top menu bar.
In my case, I chose the “Newsprint” paper texture. This gives me a nice grungy look.
Step 3: Add Some Noise
Next, add some noise to the image. By adding noise, you give the image more depth. It’s like adding shadows and highlights to the photo.
To add noise, simply click on the “Noise” tool icon located on the left side toolbar. Then drag over the area where you’d like to add noise.
Step 4: Adjust the Levels
Next, adjust the levels so that the white areas become lighter and the black areas darker.

Newspapers are made from paper pulp mixed with water and chemicals. When wet, this mixture becomes sticky and pliable. It then goes through a series of processes where it is stretched, folded, cut, glued, and pressed into sheets. These sheets are then dried and trimmed before being sent off to be printed.
When making a newspaper texture, you should try to replicate these steps as closely as possible.
Step 5: Duplicate Layer
Duplicating layers allows you to easily change things later on without having to redo everything. So now that we’ve got our background layer ready, duplicate it.
Step 6: Change the Blend Mode
Now that we have two copies of the same layer, we can change their blend mode. The blend modes allow you to control which parts of each layer will affect the final result.
